At your own pace and style
The idea of slow travel, a branch of the slow food and
slow life movements, which were born in Italy in the
1980s, was created in response to this problem. Support-
ers of the slow movement are looking for opportunities
to experience something real and authentic during their
travels. Living in a local style and rhythm as well as build-
ing sincere relationships with the inhabitants are the key
ingredients of slow travel. Regardless of whether you are
going to the heart of the jungle or to a rural tourism, tak-
ing part in a horseback ride through the Bieszczady wil-
derness, a yoga course in India, or choosing sunbathing
on a remote island – always try to get to know the en-
vironment, surroundings, local culture, include acquaint-
                  ances and build authentic relationships.
Slow travel is traveling at your own pace and style. It focus-
es on quality, not quantity. It’s about slowing down and start-
ing to enjoy life. The real destination of slow travel? Feel at
home, even at the other end of Poland or the world.
Traveling adds energy and changes the perception of
the world. Being a few or several thousand kilometers
from our own home, we naturally distance ourselves
from the problems, everyday life and the world that we
leave behind. When traveling, we find time to do things
we don’t have a chance to do every day. And, above all,
we can finally do what we want. Lying flat on the beach,
dangling in the garden in a hammock, staring at the sky or
climbing to the top of a mountain with a fabulous view.
We can sing, swim, sleep until noon or stay awake all
night, admire sunrises and sunsets, get lost in the alleys
of a small town or enjoy regional specialties in an atmos-
pheric restaurant. We don’t have to rush, swallow meals
on the run, control the time and check e-mail every 5 sec-
onds. Traveling in the rhythm of slow teaches all this.
You come back from such trips rested, full of impres-
sions and energy, and with new experiences. Because,
as  Ryszard Kapuściński wrote: “The journey does not be-
gin when we set off, and it does not end when we reach
the finish line. In reality, it starts much earlier and practi-
cally never ends, because the tape of memory continues
to spin in us, even though we physically have not moved
from our place for a long time”.

                  Fashion for slow traveling
In a busy society where the Internet plays a major role,
travel becomes an opportunity to find and get to know
yourself, open your eyes and heart to the world, to peo-
ple and to new experiences. It is enough to want it, the
more so that the fashion for slow traveling is slowly enter-
ing. More and more often, instead of all inclusive trips,
people choose individual trips, organized independently
or by a travel agency specializing in tailor-made offers.

5 tips to travel more mindfully
Forget about all inclusive – and also about organized
trips. Organize your trips yourself. Buy a guidebook, find
information on the Internet, contact travelers specialized
in the region you are interested in – they will give you
